World Economic Forum: AI and ‘Rebuilding Trust’

Tokyo (SCCIJ) – The 54th iteration of the annual World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Swiss Alpine city Davos brings together more than 2,800 leaders from 120 countries and takes place under the theme ‘Rebuilding Trust’. The summit will explore the potential of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and their impact on worldwide decision-making and collaborative efforts.

Convergence of World Leaders

The objective of this year’s assembly in Davos is to engage in frank and productive discussions on various critical issues, including resolving security crises, enhancing cooperation, and shaping new economic models.

“We face a fractured world and growing societal divides, leading to pervasive uncertainty and pessimism. We have to rebuild trust in our future by moving beyond crisis management, looking at the root causes of the present problems, and building together a more promising future,” said Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum.

The meeting’s program will address the latest global developments and aims to revitalize and reimagine the cooperation necessary for advancing resilience and security; reviving economic growth that improves living standards and pursuing rapid action that protects the climate and nature while securing energy.

Global stakeholders meeting

Switzerland is the host country for the Annual Meeting. More than 300 public figures will participate this year, including more than 60 heads of state and government. There will be strong representation from all key regions of the world.

Viola Amherd, President of the Swiss Confederation 2024 and Federal Councillor of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports is representing the host country. Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is not going to Davos this week after delivering his “new capitalism” message last year.

An estimated 1,600 business leaders, including 800-plus of the world’s top CEOs and chairs from the World Economic Forum’s Members and Partners, have also registered for participation. There will also be more than 150 Global Innovators, Tech Pioneers, and Unicorns who are transforming industries.

Global Risks

Ahead of the assembly, the World Economic Forum released its latest Global Risks Report which comes to the conclusion that climate change is having a larger and faster impact than expected.

The dangers to humanity from the destruction and overexploitation of nature are increasing dramatically, while the willingness of states and societies to address these human challenges together is declining, say the experts behind the report.

The meeting will be accessible to the wider public with over 200 sessions to be livestreamed. For more information on the Annual Meeting 2024, visit www.weforum.org.
