Tokyo (SCCIJ) – The second Inter-Chamber Ski Race turned out as intended – a fun event for members and friends of the business chambers from the three German-speaking countries Austria, Germany and Switzerland in Japan. All participants enjoyed the occasion of a ski and relaxation weekend outside of the megalopolis Tokyo together with their families and friends. The ski race and after-party were organized by the Austrian Business Council (ABC), the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (AHK Japan) and the Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan (SCCIJ).
Races, buffet, raffle, speeches
The main event of the weekend was a cross-chamber friendly ski race in Happo-One, Hakuba (Nagano Prefecture), which was followed by an award party at the Hakuba Tokyu Hotel. Ten children, seven women and eleven men participated in the actual races. The winner, second and third of every race were awarded a medal, and the two youngest participants received a small gift.
The 77 participants of the award party were also entertained with a nice buffet loaded with Austrian, German and Swiss specialties, and a raffle with many prizes sponsored by some member companies of the three chambers, among which was SCCIJ corporate member Breitling Japan.
The event was organized in close cooperation with the Happo-One Ski Resort and the Hakuba Tourism Association. The mayor of Hakuba, Mr. Masatake Shimokawa, personally greeted the guests at the evening party. A surprise speaker was Mr. Shunsuke Mutai, a former bureaucrat at the Ministry of Internal Affairs who created the new Japanese holiday “Mountain Day”.
