Four awards

The Säntis Malt Whisky Distillery achieved four awards for its international whiskies at the annual selection. The limited Rainbow Series No. 1 won gold with the Swiss single malt whisky “Freedom” and is also a winner in the category “Best International Whisky”. The limited-edition single malts “Hope” and “Passion” were awarded silver. At the World Whiskies Awards, various whisky creations from around the world are honored every year.

“We are very pleased to receive these coveted awards,” says Aurèle Meyer, managing director of Locher Brewery. “They are international recognition of our team’s ingenuity and hard work in fusing tradition with innovation. Our Rainbow Series No. 1 embodies the best we have to offer in whisky, and we’re proud that it’s getting more and more attention around the world.”

Convincing aromas

Rainbow Series No. 1 “Freedom” is a unique whisky from historic oak barrels and is distinguished by its unmistakable character and remarkable aroma. Darr malt, dark caramel, dried dates, figs, banana chips, and roasted nuts give the single malt a dark spiciness and an unforgettable taste experience.

In addition, the Säntis Malt Whiskies “Hope” and “Passion” from Rainbow Series No. 1 won the silver medal in their respective categories. “Hope” delights with a sensual aroma characterized by prunes, raisins, and dates. The wood spice is reminiscent of vanilla crescents and crema catalana. “Passion” features a distinct red wine influence and a delicate combination of cherry, strawberry, vanilla, and a hint of beer foam.

Committed to quality

Säntis Malt Distillery has been producing Säntis Malt since 1999. It has made a name for itself through its commitment to products made from hops and malt and is proud to now launch the limited-edition Rainbow Series No. 1.

The series represents the brewery’s dedication and passion, led by Karl Locher, for excellence in whiskey production and the pursuit of exceptional taste experiences. The exclusive and limited Rainbow Series No. 1 “Freedom” (600 bottles), “Hope” (1000 bottles), and “Passion” (2000 bottles) of Säntis Malt from Appenzell are available to international whisky lovers and collectors alike and some are already sold out.

Swiss Alpine Whisky

In Switzerland, it was forbidden until 1999 to produce high-proof beverages from basic foodstuffs such as grain or potatoes. The law in question was repealed on July 1, 1999. A year earlier, the Locher brewery began producing Appenzeller Säntis Malt under the strict supervision of the Alcohol Board. In 2002, the first whisky was launched on the market. For the production of the whisky, among other things, grain from Swiss mountain areas and spring water from the Alpstein is used.
