Breitling rapidly expands in Japan

Tokyo (SCCIJ) – Swiss luxury watchmaker Breitling opened a boutique in Hiroshima, entering the Chugoku region of Japan for the first time. Following new stores in Kyoto and Nagoya in February and Omotesando, Tokyo, in April, Hiroshima is the ninth and latest flagship Breitling store in Japan.

Boutique in Hiroshima

In 2015, the Spirit of Breitling Hiroshima, the first concept shop of the Swiss brand in the Sanyo region, opened on the second floor of the Tomiya Hiroshima store. Seven years later, the boutique has relocated and been reborn as Breitling Boutique Hiroshima. Located on Namiki-dori in the heart of Naka-ku, the store is a one-floor shop with a lot of depth.

In the deep, one-floor space, a globally unified design concept has been introduced, allowing visitors to experience the modern retro Breitling worldview. It also displays the latest collections and rare models that only a boutique can offer.

Like Breitling boutiques around the world, the new Hiroshima store adopts the Swiss watchmaker’s latest design concept called “Industrial Loft”. The vintage-inspired interior with handcrafted furniture creates a modern retro atmosphere. The store is equipped with a state-of-the-art display and showcases a maximum of approximately 180 timepieces.

Largest Japan store

At the end of April this year, Breitling already inaugurated its largest boutique in Japan in Omotesando, Tokyo. Located in the middle between Omotesando Station and Meiji-jingumae Station, the state-of-the-art store is built on one floor with an atrium.

The spacious space with a glass front and a three-floor atrium displays the latest collections and boasts a huge selection of products. The 115 square meter sales floor in Tokyo shows off more than 230 watches.

This flagship store also features the chic industrial loft design of all Breitling boutiques. Altogether, according to the global company website, 109 locations in Japan are now offering Breitling watches. No end of expansion is in sight.

Innovative marketing

In October, Breitling Japan and the famous animation film studio Ghibli presented the Navitimer Cosmonaut Porco Rosso. This 24-hour watch was based on the Cosmonaut, which in 1962, sixty years ago, became the first Swiss-made wristwatch to travel in space.

At the same time, Ghibli celebrated the opening of the “Ghibli Park” and the 30-year-anniversary of the movie “Porco Rosso”. The plot revolves around an Italian World War I ex-fighter ace, now living as a freelance bounty hunter chasing “air pirates” in the Adriatic Sea. The limited Breitling watch is dedicated to astronaut Porco. It features Porco’s beloved Savoia S-21 aircraft on the dial at the 24 o’clock position and an illustration of Porco printed on the sapphire crystal caseback.
