Tokyo (SCCIJ) – The Swiss health startup dacadoo and the Japanese life insurance group T&D Holding are cooperating in the development of digital life insurance products for Japan. dacadoo, based in Zurich, Switzerland, develops and operates a comprehensive digital Health Engagement Platform to motivate users to achieve and maintain healthy lifestyle habits. The digital user journey is optimized to engage clients of insurers and it is delivered through mobile apps (iPhone & Android) and a web app built in responsive design. In August 2017, dacadoo had completed a capital raise with Rakuten Capital, the investment arm of the Japanese e-commerce market leader Rakuten, as the lead investor.
Innovative customer relations
The Swiss and the Japanese companies have entered a Memorandum of Understanding for a collaboration to discuss and study future collaborations. The T&D Life Group will, by leveraging the digital health technology and infrastructure of dacadoo, aim to deliver advanced digital life insurance products which support customer’s well-being, and also pursue a range of innovations potentials in areas such as customer relationships, marketing and underwriting.
Firstly, Daido Life Insurance Company will start discussions with dacadoo for specific collaboration items. Peter Ohnemus, founder and CEO of dacadoo, commented: “The digitalization process in life insurance is advancing rapidly and newly designed digital insurance products will appear more and more. dacadoo develops and operates a digital, mobile health engagement platform that helps employees actively manage their health in an easy and fun way. The platform calculates a dacadoo Health Score as a number from 1 (poor) to 1’000 (excellent). The free tracker application is free and available for all major mobile phone operating systems.
dacadoo combines motivational techniques from behavioral science with functions from online gaming and social networks that involve users in their holistic health – Body, Mind and Lifestyle. Another separate application “dacadoo GO” encourages its users to walk more by turning walking into an location-based game with the scientifically validated dacadoo Step Score. It provides a true real-time measurement of how far you are walking and how that affects your health and well-being. It features quests, team battles, experience points and a level system, abilities as well as rewards.
