Tokyo (SCCIJ) – Lucerne has won the World’s Best International Business Location Award 2022 for offering the most outstanding advantages for global companies. The main reasons given by the jury of the London-based World Biz Magazine include low taxes, highly qualified specialists, exceptional transport connections, and high quality of life.
Highly attractive location
The magazine outlined four main reasons for choosing Lucerne. First, cost advantages. Areas in the canton offer some of the lowest tax rates in Switzerland. Land, office space, and residential property have highly attractive prices for business. This mix marks out Lucerne as a financially smart location for companies.
Second, a large pool of qualified, highly skilled, and multilingual workers are steeped in a culture of innovation, international orientation, and high productivity. Around 1 million well-qualified employees are active in the catchment area of this economic region. One source is the numerous educational institutions and universities in the region. Also, many years of experience in tourism make Lucerne open to companies and employees from abroad.
Most popular city
Third, Lucerne is located in the middle of Switzerland due to being part of the Zurich metropolitan area, Switzerland’s strongest economic region. The city sits right at the heart of Europe. Three of the continent’s largest markets – Germany, France, and Italy – are easily accessible from Lucerne due to its excellent transport system and links. Fourth, quality of life with nearby mountains, lakes, and landscapes. People are working and living where others spend their holidays. Lucerne is the most popular city in Switzerland, the region’s cultural and leisure offerings are internationally acclaimed.
“This award will put Lucerne on the radar of other exciting companies worldwide that are looking for a footprint in Europe, want to optimize their global supply chain, or establish an R&D center”, explained Mathias Lischer, Head of FDI & Promotion at Lucerne Business.
