LNS Group buys Japanese machine tool maker
Tokyo (SCCIJ) - Yoshida Tekko KK, a leader in the Japanese market for chip conveyors, coolant systems and high level filtration systems, joins the Swiss LNS Group. This acquisition allows the LNS Group to further expand in Asia, to serve its customers globally and to offer coolant system and conveyor innovations in the Asian markets. “This strategic union allows us to offer our customers a complete solution to automate and optimize their machine tools", states Thomas Boehmer, CEO of the LNS Group.
Strategy based on Knowhow
Founded in 1969 in Nomi City (close to Komatsu), Yoshida Tekko KK is one of the leading companies in the Japanese machine tool industry with more than 100 employees. The LNS Group, with headquarters in Orvin (Switzerland), now including nine production facilities around the globe and 800 employees, is the world market leader in automating machine-tools.
“We sell knowledge”, said Damien Wenisch, then Vice President for Technology, at the Japan International Machine Tool Fair 2010 in Tokyo Big Sight. The periphery specialist had his booth in the same hall as the machine producer without showing any single machine. LNS develops together with the machine tool producers the peripheries such as feeding machines to increase their sales chances.
The buyer of such a machine can produce with a higher efficiency. “Because of this added value we are in high demand at the producers”, explained Wenisch. So far LNS could compete with their Japanese rivals because of their global factory and support network. The acquisition gives LNS a base to introduce new products into the Japanese market and serve the Japanese clients directly.
New company in Japan
As LNS is already the market leader for bar feeders in South East Asia and has production facilities in Taiwan and China, the union with Yoshida will further facilitate the Asia expansion and the implementation of the One-Stop-Shop strategy. The newly founded "LNS Yoshida KK" takes over the operations of Yoshida Tekko KK.
Its founder and president Mr. Takao Yoshida is the chairman of the newly established company, while Mr. Daigo Sawada is the new president. LNS Yoshida will continue to produce its existing product line for the Japanese market and for the export markets. LNS will also leverage Yoshida's high-end filtration technology and large conveyor systems globally to be produced in the local markets of the USA and Europe.
About the LNS Group
With bar feeder series such as the "Express" and "Sprint", LNS has been a world market leader for nearly 40 years. With the acquisition of the chip conveyor company Turbo Systems LNS developed the One-Stop-Shop strategy, to automate the CNC machine tools with a concentrated array of peripheral products. Mr. Boehmer: "The acquisition of Yoshida into the LNS Group allows us to realize this strategy in Asia, too."
LNS was founded in 1973 in Orvin Switzerland. It has 800 employees and nine production facilities located in Switzerland, North America, the UK, China, Taiwan, Turkey, Italy and now Japan. To this day, more than 120'000 bar feeders and 100'000 conveyors have been installed by LNS worldwide.
