International Charity Art Sale

International Charity Art Sale

About forty professional artists from Japan, Switzerland, UK and USA have donated their latest works for a unique International Art Sale evening in Tokyo. Painting, photograph, calligraphy and sculpture were displayed and put on sale. All proceeds will be donated to Japan Red Cross, to benefit the victims of the Great East Earthquake and Tsunami 3/11.

Date & Time: Saturday, September 24th from 5:30 to 8:30 pm
Place: Gallery 6, Shoto Rokubankan, 1-28-4 Shibuya 

Organized by Mrs Kyoko Ishikure (Gallery 6) and Mrs Carole Glauser Pidoux (Embassy of Switzerland), this special event, supported by the Embassy of Switzerland, is an opportunity to discover and buy contemporary art for a good cause.

Update
Mrs Ishikure and Mrs Pidoux have donated the total collected amount of 833,277JPY to Japan Red Cross on September 29, 2011!

Peace Boat Efforts

Volunteers

Since March 16, 2011 in the immediate aftermath of the disaster, Peace Boat has been active in Ishinomaki, Miyagi prefecture, one of the hardest hit cities on the coast of northeast Japan.

Peace Boat is acting in a coordination role between Ishinomaki’s local government and the many NGOs, institutions and individuals offering help in the area. At the same time, Peace Boat has been carrying out its own emergency relief efforts, dispatching 100-250 volunteers weekly.

Walking through Japan

Walking through Japan

Mr. Thomas Köhler, a Swiss citizen from Winterthur, will walk the entire length of the Japanese archipelago to support the return of foreign tourists to Japan. He plans to cover the distance of 2,500 kilometers from Hokkaido to Kyushu.

"In spite of all this negative news, I am determined to go ahead with my project - Walking through Japan - in order to send out new positive signals. My goal is - the way! In addition to the physical performance, it is my prior intention to inform interested people about Japan." says Mr. Köhler.

Day 1, Saturday, October 15:
13:00- We Love Japan Walk with Mr. Koehler
15:00- Open-Air Welcome Event
18:30- Welcome Reception at Hotel Kunitomi Annex (JPY 5,000 per person)
Day 2, Sunday, October 16:
09:30- introduction to the rice farmer Sonoda-san
11:00- Introduction to the Nihonshu brewery Kaganoi (the oldest in Niigata Prefecture)
12:00- Lunch
