(Initiatives are listed in alphabetical order)

Kamaishi City; Hoikuen (Kinderhort)

The Hoikuen building has been completely destroyed by the Tsunami. The Hoikuen offers “free of charge” day care for children from 1 ½ year of age.

Mr. Pfarrer Max Enderle, a missionary of Immensee/Bethlehem, living in Japan since 1954, is helping with the rebuilding efforts. They are waiting for the city to decide on a new location, and the Swiss village Heiden AR is considering financial support through their Henry Dunant (spiritual founder of the Red Cross) Foundation. Mr. August Sidler (has lived 30 years in Japan) is also trying to involve Caritas Lucerne and Sendai.

School Cones for Japan

This project aims to support kids with their transition back to normal life/overcome their traumatic experience by putting a smile on their faces. They want to fill 1000 school cones (a tradition from German-speaking countries) with school supplies, toys and/or sweets and deliver them in December to three school in Tohoku. In addition, many kids from schools overseas have drawn paintings or created artworks to show solidarity.
They are looking for partners such as companies that would like to provide small give-aways etc. for school cones, schools which would like to participate, or people who would like to help with packing or delivery.
They have collected approx. 10,000 EUR in Germany and world-wide, but they would appreciate donations for the filling. Everything will be bought in Japan in order to stimulate business in Tohoku. Every hand of support and help is needed for filing, delivery, coordination, or just ideas.
